 As you can see the bike was in bad esthetic shape, specifically the frame and motor casings and heads. The plastics were OK, In the end I only kept the tank, the nose and one side failing the rest was sourced from the used market.

			==Radiator Swap 10/2024==
			One of the things about 851/888s is that they ALWAYS run hot. Hot on the gauge, hot on your ankles, hot on the vent under the seat from the coolant rez! After looking for an eternity, I found a full aluminum replacement from china that was marketed as for 999 but was really for the 851/888 which I was stoked about. A full aluminum radiator has a higher cooling factor than the OEM unit. Additionally I needed a radiator for the 888LTD which is more of an OEM bike than the 851Special. Because of these facts I replaced this unit and waterfalled down the OEM unit to the 888LTD.


			Here you can see the OEM and China nockoffs on the table. The China unit needed to modifying to allow the fan to mount and to allow the under triple mudguard but after some bending and cutting I was able to install it as expected.

			The final product was a lot better cooling and a lot better looking! China parts don't always work well but in this case I made out like a bandit.

	One of the best things on this project was how well the modern Honda front fender played with the old styling of the 851!!! Most don't see it but over the years, the front fender has changed a lot on the Ducati SBKs and it drives a lot of the aging of the bike (IMHO).
