After reading a lot about these cars, both the 1M as well as the original M2 it was clear I needed one, it hit all the spots.  When BMW made the Competition Edition of the car, it was clear the time was now.  Additionally I was running on the assumption that it would be the last manual BMW made, they later made a new M2 which continued the manual trans.
In one of my many BMW mags I was subscribed to had an M2 Comp on the cover, I wrote note on it saying that "I needed to
buy one of these".  My wife read it and told me I should, I never pulled the trigger.

On one of my many visits to the dealership, I stopped in the showroom and there was this car, the perfect damn car.  I was annoyed...

What is the F87 M2 to you?

To me, it was a number of things:

A throw back to the BMWs of my childhood.  Small, simple, fast, reliable
Straightforward
A bright spot in the days of raising a family, driving around in big ass trucks
An Early mid light crisis, the first of many
A perfect car (if you don't have a family..)

After reading a lot about these cars, both the 1M as well as the original M2 it was clear I needed one, it hit all the spots.
