The Ducati Monster was a hit day one when it was first released in 1996. Over the years since, Ducati has continually made short run mad-man machines, stuffing current day race motors in the naked citybike's chassis. While Ducati has tried to change this methodolgy by making the StreetFighter (Yuck!), the last unit done in this fashion was the Monster S4RS Tricalore. A Monster chassis, Ohlins all around and a 999Motor with longer duration cams for constant wheelie city riding, the term white knuckles comes to mind, even for a guy like me with a lot of seat time.
These things are delivered with DOT Pipes that literally weigh 30Lbs and kill the bikes performance and sound (Loud pipes save lives). After owning the bike for about 2 months, I talked Charlie into getting the full system from Termi, what an improvement. Excellent performance and build quality, stunning look and sound. If you have big feet, be prepared to lose some foot location flexibility.
The following winter, I told Charlie to get me the bike so I can make it "Right". This entailed a tail chop, intrgrated brake/blinker LED Light, Suspension Adjustments (raise the tail about and inch and a half, Pull off the Coal canister for, Remove the bikini fairing and installed Woody Slight Rise Clipons. Additionally I swapped thew original rear blinkers with the front as they are more then an inch shorter and fit nicely up front.
I am pleased with the outcome and still have a few more things to do. We are thinking about a paint change, stay tuned for that one.
